The Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach is a public facility located on 5 acres of oceanfront property. The Beach House story is one of evolution from private to public, starting with the development of the property at 415 Pacific Coast Highway as an opulent private estate in the 1920s.
The site opened to the public as the Annenberg Community Beach House on April 25, 2009. The Beach House combines elements of the historic Marion Davies Estate with new amenities to create a truly unique community destination that's open to all - no membership required. With spectacular views, splash pad, children's play area, gallery, historic pool, and Marion Davies Guest House there's something for everyone to enjoy at the Beach House!
BEACH HOUSE GROUNDS & GATED AREA
The grounds and gated area are open to all, no membership required.
Grounds include the playground, beach areas, beach volleyball and soccer courts. Gated area includes the courtyard, splash pad, and view deck. MAP >
GUEST SERVICES
Open daily 9am - 6pm July 1-September 6, 2021. We are located under the large beach ball banner, next to the south parking lot. Call us with any questions at 310.458.4904.
SPLASH PAD
The Splash Pad is a water feature that shoots water out of the ground and is very popular with small children.

BACK ON THE BEACH CAFÉ
Hours change seasonally. The café is privately operated, please call them directly at 310-393-8282 to confirm hours.

- The Annenberg Community Beach House is a public site, open to all. No membership or reservations required!
- The grounds including the playground, beach courts and fields, beach access, and the parking lot are open daily.
- Free wi-fi is available. Tables & chairs with umbrellas are available in the courtyard and view deck.
- Summer amenities include the pool and reservable canopies.
- The pool is closed between October and May. See pool schedule and admission fees.
- The Beach House grounds are available for small get-togethers on a first come, first served basis.
- Reservations are not available for the public spaces (courtyard, splash pad, or sandy areas); all areas are first come, first served.
- Canopies in the sand are available during the summer season, in conjunction with the pool being open. Canopy Reservations >
- Guests are welcome to bring their own canopies, tables, and chairs to setup in the sandy areas. Please refer to below Beach House rules for prohibited items.
- Beach volleyball courts and soccer fields are available to reserve year-round. First come, first served courts are also available. Court & Field reservations >

For the safety and enjoyment of all Beach House guests, the following are prohibited:
- Moving furniture or umbrellas
- Courtyard / Splash Pad / View Deck
- Using more than 8 seats per group
- Using personal canopies / umbrellas / tables / chairs
- More than 1 personal canopy on sand, no larger than 12’x12’
- Deliveries from rental companies
- Animals (except service animals)
- Smoking / vaping
- Alcohol
- Glass containers
- Amplified music
- Balloons / pinatas
- Fires / fireworks / barbecues / wick chafing fuel
- Attaching signage / decor to railings, walls, or trees
- Riding bikes / scooters / skateboards in courtyard & walkways
- Securing bikes to railings (bike racks available)
- Remote control models (drones / planes / cars)
Other restrictions may apply. Guests must abide by the decisions of Beach House staff regarding the interpretation of rules.
