May the 4th Be With You!

What to expect heading into the weekend.

By Chanin Victor May 4, 2018

Hey Everyone,

May the Fourth be with you!  It's almost the weekend, YAY!

We've got Cinco de Mayo on the brain and some of us have Cinco de Drinko...😜

Whatever you do, be safe.  Here are a couple ways to celebrate with your family.

What can you do with your kids to celebrate Cinco De Mayo?

  • Hang a Piñata and take turns trying to break it open to get candy.  Or better yet, put some healthy treats in there.
  • Cook a Mexican style dinner together.  Have kids tear up lettuce, chop avocados with a plastic knife, or grate some cheese.
  • Go on a little adventure to a Mexican market. We do it all the time and then make street tacos....YUM!
  • Watch YouTube and watch some of the Mexican dances they do at festivals and with the beautiful dresses and try it too.
  • Listen to some favorite Mexican melodies on a Spanish station or iTunes.
  • Look up Mexico on the internet and do a mini-report with a cool poster to go along with it.
  • Look up lyrics to some Mexican songs on YouTube and sing along.
  • Make homemade maracas if you don't have your own.  Toilet tubes or plastic Easter eggs filled with beans make great ones.
  • Make some different colored pasta and glue it to paper to make a Mexican flag.
  • Download some Spanish apps and practice your Spanish with each other.
  • Go to the Library and get some kids books on Mexico or the Spanish language and learn some new things.
  • Cinco De Mayo really celebrates the Day of the Battle of Puebla.  Find out why this happened and who they fought.

Thinking ahead to a very special day next weekend.  May 13th is Mother's Day and we've put together a few ideas for right of things to do with mom or for mom.
