Breathtaking, beautiful, and totally entertaining are just a few of the words that come to mind when talking about Cirque du Soleil's IRIS, A Journey Through the World of Cinema at the Dolby Theatre. I went with my husband and another couple for a fun kids-free night, but I have to admit I felt just like a little kid watching the show with eyes wide open and in awe of the performances.
The show is creative and funny, the costumes and sets are amazing, and the performances unreal. It is hard to talk about the show because you really have to see it to believe it. From the incredible acrobatic acts like the Aerial Straps Duo performing in air over your head, and the Kiriki group flipping each another over and over one another or the amazing and artful trampoline performance. I also loved to the elaborate dance numbers, and the film strip number is one that will keep you talking for days. IRIS is my favorite show that I have seen this year, and I highly recommend it - I think kids will enjoy it too. There are a few adult innuendos but will most likely go right over your kids heads.
