CREATE-A-MUSICAL Ages 8-14 -Here is your chance to create a musical play! Through brainstorming and improvisation, campers create and perform an original show that incorporates their own characters, plots, and dialogue, as well as established songs. Every actor shines as they learn valuable skills under the guidance of writing and director specialist, Debbie Gaughan, who is an established screen writer with a BA in Theater Education and a Masters in Children's Theater.
GLEE Ages 8-14 Showcase- For actors who love to sing popular songs.Performers focus on expressing themselves as singers and dancers under professional direction to build a stronger foundation of their craft. Glee incorporates a chorus-type concept which includes singing, choreography, and creating scenes which reflect the theme of the song. Working on current popular songs, as well as songs from classic musicals, performers work together on material geared for all singing levels. Brainstorming and collaboration are encouraged. Your song ideas are welcome!
MUSICAL THEATER Youth: Performance Camp- Ages 7-12 Teen: Ages 12-17 -Step into the spotlight and enter the exciting world of theater. Act, sing and dance in a popular musical play while exploring dynamic characters, acting techniques, collaboration and camaraderie with fellow actors, excitement of lights and audience and the satisfaction of performance. Working with theater education professionals, each actor has the opportunity to shine while building self-confidence and valuable skills. Fun and challenging for advanced to novice performers. Shows are performed in an established theater in Santa Monica.
MUSICAL THEATER REVUE Ages 8-14 Showcase-For actors who want to explore and perform various hit musicals. From the enchanted land of Wicked, to the cowboy pastures of Oklahoma, to the spooky halls of Phantom of the Opera, this camp offers an opportunity to bring many exciting 'cast of characters' to life. Campers explore, act, sing and dance the songs and scenes from hit musicals. Your play choices are welcome!
VAUDEVILLE-COMEDY Ages 8-14 Optional Showcase-Create your own act while enriching the foundation of your craft. Express your individuality by doing comedy improv, innovative skits, slap-stick, stand-up routines, stage combat, singing, dancing, and other skills … reveal your secret talents, and be part of a cabaret! Awaken your performer’s funny bone in a laughter-filled camp in positive group environment.
