4th of July Crafts

Popsicle Stick Flags

By Courtney Lewis June 27, 2013

The boys and I had fun making these 4th of July Popsicle Stick Flags.  It was a pretty easy craft with not too much clean up. They got to paint and use glue so they were happy. The only tricky part are the stars so I ended up doing them because the boys got frustered. When we make more I'm going to get stickers.

You will need:

  • Jumbo popsicle sticks
  • Red, white & blue paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Tape (masking or packing)
  • White school glue
  • A toothpick or fine paintbrush

Directions:

  1. Divide up your popsicle sticks. For each flag you will need 3 red, 2 white whole sticks and 3 half blue sticks
  2. Paint the sticks
  3. Let them dry, it shouldn't take to long
  4. Cut the blue sticks in half
  5. Lay out the red & white sticks like the flag, then flip them over and tape the back, I used clear packing tape.
  6. Glue the cut blue sticks to the red & white sticks
  7. Paint the stars on the blue sticks (or you could use stickers)
