Toddler Camp is for moms and their toddlers aged 15 months and older.  Toddler Camp offers moms a pre-planned weekly adventure to explore different spots throughout LA that are good for toddlers.  Together we will discover all the great things to do with your toddler in and out of the city, some that you probably never even knew about.  There will be a heavy focus on outdoor locations that encourage the type of play best for this age group.

Sunday, May 19 - Love Liv - A Fundraiser for Nemaline Myopathy

Liv has nemaline myopathy, a rare disease that affects skeletal muscles. This makes moving, eating, and even breathing very difficult. This fundraiser filled with lots of fun, crafts for kids, food, tours of the Eco Station, silent auction and live entertainment is to raise money for A Foundation for Building Strength, in supporting research to help finding a cure. Celebrity appearances and music performance by American Idol finalist.

Sunday, May 19 - Venice Art Walk

The 34th anniversary of Venice Art Walk & Auctions, brings 1,000's of community members together to celebrate Venice Family Clinic. Artists open their studios, architects open their homes, and artists donate their work to ensure that neighbors in need have access to health care. With incredible home and studio tours, a taste-bud tingling food fare , Venice Art Walk & Auctions raises over $600,000 annually. Kids will enjoy arts & crafts, games and dance to music. Artist Gary Steinborn teaches kids how to make miniature versions of his famous Blue Dogs. Moo Moo Musica will also engage the kids with songs and dancing.

More than 53 different butterfly and moth species and an array of plants take up residence every summer for the much-anticipated seasonal exhibit, the Butterfly Pavilion. Friday, May 17 through Sunday, May 12 - Metropolis II at LACMA

 Metropolis II is an intense kinetic sculpture, modeled after a fast paced, frenetic modern city. Steel beams form an eclectic grid interwoven with an elaborate system of 18 roadways, including one 6 lane freeway, and HO scale train tracks. Miniature cars speed through the city at 240 scale miles per hour; every hour, the equivalent of approximately 100,000 cars circulate through the dense network of buildings.

Journey deep in the Hundred Acre Wood Christopher Robin plays with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eyore, Rabbit, and energetic Tigger. Winnie the Pooh and his friends ask the audience to help Pooh search for honey, with classic  Winnie the Pooh songs. The 30-minute show is designed for the under five crowd and their families. The show is light and bright with minimal dialogue, no black outs, and no scary villains. The makeup is minimal, and costuming is "Pajama Style" so it's not intimidating. Children are encouraged to meet the characters after the show to get autographs, pictures, and video.

Sunday, May 19 - MASANGA Marimba Ensemble

Masanga Marimba plays traditional and popular music from Africa and Latin America. The instruments used in this ensemble consist of 7 Zimbabwean marimbas of various sizes along with vocals, drums, percussion, saxophone and trumpet. The word “Masanga” comes from an African word that means the coming together of rivers or roads representing the meeting of African, Latin and American traditions in this group.Their music is upbeat, danceable, and family-oriented. The sight and sound of Masanga's giant marimbas is unlike anything you've ever seen or heard before

Sunday, May 26 through Tuesday, May 28 - Fiesta Hermosa

Since 1972, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce has produced Fiesta Hermosa, the ”largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California”. Over 400 artists and crafters are featured, including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handicrafters. The festival takes place every Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) in downtown Hermosa Beach, California. With the ocean as a backdrop, Hermosa Beach is an ideal place for a summer festival with temperatures of 80 degrees and balmy sea breezes

The Kick Off to Pregnancy Awareness Month

A crowd of over 600 filled the Writer’s Camp in Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station for the 6th Annual Signature Pregnancy Awareness Month’s (PAM) Event on May 5th.  The popular free event – a celebration of pregnancy and families – was presented by Daddy Scrubs. 

 

Guests had an opportunity to see and test the latest and healthiest family products while learning about a host of new services and options available for pregnant moms and soon-to-be dads. With a focus on “Empowering the Mother in Everyone,” the event showcased ...


LOVELIV BENEFIT

TO RAISE MONEY FOR NEMALINE MYOPATHY (NM) RESEARCH

 

 LoveLiv, an event planned by a local LA family to generate awareness for their one-year-old daughter’s condition, Nemaline Myopathy (NM), will happen at Star Eco Station in Culver City on Sunday, May 19 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. With something for everyone, the event is the perfect venue for a day of family fun, helping to raise money for NM research.
