Sunday, May 19 - Love Liv - A Fundraiser for Nemaline Myopathy

Liv has nemaline myopathy, a rare disease that affects skeletal muscles. This makes moving, eating, and even breathing very difficult. This fundraiser filled with lots of fun, crafts for kids, food, tours of the Eco Station, silent auction and live entertainment is to raise money for A Foundation for Building Strength, in supporting research to help finding a cure. Sunday, May 19 - Venice Art Walk

The 34th anniversary of Venice Art Walk & Auctions, brings 1,000's of community members together to celebrate Venice Family Clinic. Artists open their studios, architects open their homes, and artists donate their work to ensure that neighbors in need have access to health care. With incredible home and studio tours, a taste-bud tingling food fare , Venice Art Walk & Auctions raises over $600,000 annually. Kids will enjoy arts & crafts, games and dance to music.  Metropolis II is an intense kinetic sculpture, modeled after a fast paced, frenetic modern city. Steel beams form an eclectic grid interwoven with an elaborate system of 18 roadways, including one 6 lane freeway, and HO scale train tracks. Miniature cars speed through the city at 240 scale miles per hour; every hour, the equivalent of approximately 100,000 cars circulate through the dense network of buildings.

Winnie the Pooh and his friends ask the audience to help Pooh search for honey, with classic  Winnie the Pooh songs. The 30-minute show is designed for the under five crowd and their families. The show is light and bright with minimal dialogue, no black outs, and no scary villains. The makeup is minimal, and costuming is "Pajama Style" so it's not intimidating. Children are encouraged to meet the characters after the show to get autographs, pictures, and video.

Sunday, May 19 - MASANGA Marimba Ensemble

Masanga Marimba plays traditional and popular music from Africa and Latin America. The instruments used in this ensemble consist of 7 Zimbabwean marimbas of various sizes along with vocals, drums, percussion, saxophone and trumpet. The word “Masanga” comes from an African word that means the coming together of rivers or roads representing the meeting of African, Latin and American traditions in this group.Their music is upbeat, danceable, and family-oriented. Since 1972, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce has produced Fiesta Hermosa, the ”largest arts & crafts fair in Southern California”. Over 400 artists and crafters are featured, including painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors, and handicrafters. The festival takes place every Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) in downtown Hermosa Beach, California. The Kick Off to Pregnancy Awareness Month


A crowd of over 600 filled the Writer’s Camp in Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station for the 6th Annual Signature Pregnancy Awareness Month’s (PAM) Event on May 5th.  The popular free event – a celebration of pregnancy and families – was presented by Daddy Scrubs

Last weekend, actors from some of Hollywood’s hottest shows like Isabella Cramp and Max Charles (NBC’s The Neighbors), Maxwell Perry and Mason Vale Cotton(AMC’s Mad Men) and Landry Bender (Disney’s Crash & Bernstein), Aaron and Griffen Kunitz (Days of Our Lives), Yara and Sayeed Shahidi (BET’s The First Family) and Tyree Brown, Savannah Paige and Xolo Mariduena (NBC’s Parenthood) all stopped by to shop The Children’s Place together at the Farmer’s Market in LA for new summer styles.
