Exploring Nature with Uncle Milton Toys

Macaroni Reviews

By 3 August 9, 2012

Santa Monica Macaroni Kid has been invited to review the new line of National Geographic Toys by Uncle Milton.  For the next four weeks we will be sharing with you the toys that we played with; this week's theme was Exploring Nature for Daytime Fun.

Being that my son thinks he is a pirate, The 4-1 Explorer Navigation Toolis a big hit, and has been clipped to his pants for several days now.  It is a great size for little hands, has a sturdy compass, a thermometer, a signal mirror (which we use more as a silly face mirror) and a whistle (to be totally honest I haven't shown Dylan the whistle feature yet). We used a map with the compass to find some hidden treasure in the back yard.

Finding bugs and spiders and being able to actually look at them is really fun with the All -Terrain Nature Collector. This grabber toy has been a constant in the backyard this week and we can't wait to take it to the beach to grab sand crabs or on a hike up Temescal Canyon.

The twinkle in my son's eye when he saw the Earth Tag toy was just what you can image. Earth Tag is basically a new twist on a sling shot. This toy is recommend for ages 8 and up and Dylan, who is almost 5, did have some difficulty using it and got a bit frustrated.  That didn't stop him from trying and with some help from his Dad he figured it out, and I'm not sure who had more fun "tagging the trees". We haven't tried the Earth Tag game, which is a point-based game that is explained in the packaging, but I can see the older boys who live across the street spending hours doing this.

We had a great time this week exploring nature and playing with our new National Geographic Toys by Uncle Milton. Next up we will be checking out their nighttime explorer line.

Uncle Milton provided complementary toys for the purpose of this review.  Opinions are our own and no other compensation was received.
