Our Experience at The Learning Path

By Courtney Lewis- Sponsored Post September 11, 2014
School was starting in 2 weeks when it hit me that we had not been reading those 20 minutes everyday.  And, where was that paper we got on the last day of school about the workbook we should be doing over the summer?  We started out strong but the days got long and easy summer life just rolled in and school work rolled out, but it was time to buckle down and get back in the school groove and doing it at home was not working for us.

I called the Learning Path in Santa Monica to help my son get back on track for school.
He can get very nervous about school work and being in a new place, but he took to the teachers at the Learning Path immediately. On our first visit they did an assessment of his reading, writing and math skills to see where his strengths and weaknesses were.  Then we discussed what to focus on and came up with an plan to boost his confidence and go into the new school year feeling good and excited to learn.
The teachers at the Learning Path were dedicated and inspiring. After just the second session there was a change in my son; when I asked him to come read or do some homework I got an enthusiastic "OK Mom", not the old throw himself on the floor fit when he didn't want to do work. He was also excited to go for his lessons. I was nervous that after a long day of sports camp that he wouldn't be up for it, but he would hop in the car at pick up and ask if we were going to Learning Path so he could get a new sticker for his folder (that never works at home, right).

Working with the Learning Path has been such a success for us. Besides really helping him improve his reading and writing skills, they gave him that extra boost of confidence he needed. What I have been most impressed by since attending Learning Path is that he doesn't give up if he doesn't know the answer right away. He sticks with the problem and works on it until he figures it out....which leads to the best smile because he knows that he can do it if he works for it.
