What's In Our Beach Bag

Our top picks for what to bring to the beach.

By Courtney Lewis July 23, 2014

With three weeks of summer left we have perfected our summer beach bag. Here are my must haves for a great day at the beach.

1- Burt’s Bees Dusting Powder- This helps get that sticky sand off before getting back in the car. $6

2- Stella & Dot Getaway Bag -The perfect size for us and I love the spill resistant material and expandable compartment. $138

3- Beach Paddle Ball Set- When we need a break from the ocean we love playing Paddle Ball. $36

4- Suntegrity Natural Mineral Sunscreen - One of the top rated sunscreens by EWG. Offers broad-spectrum protection and is free of harsh chemicals. The boys and I use this on our faces. It is easy to apply and isn't greasy. $24

5- Snacks and Water- A few PB&J sandwiches, some fruit and lots of water keeps me and the kids going strong all day. I use the lifefactory line of containers, because you can see what is in it. Prices vary depending on size and style.

Flip flops- The boys love their light up flip flop sandals from Flikflops. They come in tons of cool colors and designs. We love that a 7 year old came up with the idea and her parents ran with it. $16.95 http://www.flikflops.com/collections/frontpage

7-Diaper-  SHHHH…we use it to stash our valuables, cell phone, money, keys. Fold them in and close up to make it look like a dirty diaper. No one will want to take it. Just make sure it doesn’t get thrown away.

8-Supergoop- This is one of the only good spray sunscreens, because it is a non-aerosal mist. It goes on wet or dry with complete broad-spectrum protection. $13

9-Boogie Boards- What’s a day at the beach without a little boogie boarding? $59

10- Wet/Dry Bag- No matter how hard we try someone’s shirt always gets drenched. Keep it from getting everything else in your bag wet with a wet/dry bag. We got ours at Pottery Barn Kids. $17

11- Sunglasses- These aren’t the ones I have, but the ones I have been wanting all summer. Gotta love the classic Ray Ban Aviator with the tint. $175

12- A Beach Mat- Once you start using a mat you will never go back to towels on the sand. This is the ultimate mat too, it was developed for military use. This beach mat is impossible to cover with sand. $69

13- A Cute Beach Hat- You might need to try on a bunch before you find a keeper but once you find a good one, it will become a staple. I love the casual chic of this one with the mint detail. $128

14- A Hooded Beach Towel- The kids love getting all wrapped up in their beach towels for a quick snack break and then running around like crazy people in them. Pottery Barn Kids carries our favorite - we have the shark and superhero ones, but I love this funky flamingo print. $23

15- A First-Aid Kit- Johnson and Johnson has lots of on the go first aid kits that are pre packed and small enough to keep in your bag, with just the right products you might need for some quick relief. Price varies with size and style.

We received some of these items as samples to review, but all opinions are my own.
