ECO-ME

May 24, 2012

You would think a clean home was a healthy home, right? Well, it all depends on what you are using to clean your home. Many and most of the common household cleaners that we all grew up with and have locked under our sink contain incredibly harmful ingredients. Not only is there the poisoning or blindness that can occur if used improperly, but even using the products as they are designed can be harmful to you and your family's heath. The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that of the chemicals commonly found in homes, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities.

In 2005 Robin Kay Levine's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. With no family history of the disease, nor an unhealthy lifestyle, Robin and her sister looked to environmental factors as the cause - and were alarmed to learn the awful truth. They cleaned out their houses of these products and began researching natural cleaning products that didn't include chemicals. When Robin learned that using just vinegar, a natural food-grade product, could reduce 96% of bacteria, she knew she had to bring this to the people…and Eco-Me was born. Based here in Pasadena, Eco-Me is the only 100% natural cleaning product on the market that use food-grade ingredients that are safe, effective and chemical-free!

We were asked by Eco-Me to throw a little party to find out how important using natural products were to families, and what thoughts, ideas and information parents had and wanted to know more about. They sent me a huge package of products to try out and test before the party, as well as samples for all the guests. We have put the products to good use (my boys are messy) and I can honestly say they work great. It was really amazing to me (and the housekeeper, who knows her stuff) how these natural products worked as well if not better than the big name brands.

The day of our Green Garden Party - we talked about how scary it is that things we believe are good for us are really harmful and that we want to do whatever we can to give our families the best, healthiest things we can, and that making these little changes can have big big effects. We played trivia games where guests scored samples of Bill, the all purpose cleaner, Suzy, the dish soap, Dave, the floor cleaner, Emma, the laundry soap, and my favorite Emily, the scrub cleanser.  The kids traced and came up with their own line of cleaning products, Dylan's was pizza scented lego cleaning spray.
