Before we get to all the fun events, local happenings and special invites and deals I have for you I have a confession to make.  I got a "D" in my car seat installation, and I have major mommy guilt about it.  I know you have all seen the frightening stats that something like 75 % of car seats are not installed correctly, but I always thought mine were done properly, and felt sad for those 75% of kids. I also thought it was really hard to install the car seats and just something that  I would let the husband handle. What I have just learned is that , it is not hard to do it correctly at all, and I am so thankful to Jen from Clean Bee Baby for showing me the right way to do it, and what to check for.

Let me sing the praises of Clean Bee Baby too.  For those of you that don't know Clean Bee Baby is a eco-friendly mobile car seat and stroller cleaning service.  You can have CBB come to your house, they can come to your school for a fundraiser, or you can find the yellow and purple van around town at local favorites like the Pump Station, Book & Cookies & Pumpkinheads. They offer different packages to fit all your needs- I needed to go with the Yes, I let my kids eat ice cream in their car seat, aka the deluxe package. In less then one hour my two seats were cleaned, and they look brand new and were refit to my growing boys sizes and reinstalled. I feel so much better KNOWING that my seats are installed correctly, and I was going to say that they can't eat ice cream in the car any more, but now I don't have to because we can just have Clean Bee Baby clean us up. To learn more about the services they offer, the next places they will be (this Saturday in Marnia Del Ray at Papillon ) and how to schedule an appointment check out their website HERE.

And I am not the only one with car seat safety on the mind. This past weekend we were invited to attend the first ever Red CARpet Event at Rivera County Club in Pacific Palisades, to help spread the word about the importance of child passenger safety. CLICK HERE to see all the Photos. The event was Hosted by Ali Landry, presented by Spokesmoms, and sponsored by Britax and Buick, the event was held in association with Safe Kids USA, a non-profit dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injury. In attendance at the Red CARpet Event were a group of honorary “Car Seat Ambassadors” – celebrity moms who have shown their dedication to bettering the lives of children.  They included Tori Spelling (“Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood”), Garcelle Beauvais (“Franklin & Bash”), Samantha Harris (“Entertainment Tonight”), Constance Marie (”Switched at Birth”), Kyle Richards (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Alicia Coppola (“The Nine Lives of Chloe King”), and Sarah Drew (“Grey’s Anatomy”).

Many celebrity parents at the event took advantage of the Safe Kids USA’s on-site child passenger safety technicians.  A team of nearly 15 installed new Britax  car seats and boosters for guests, as well as educating them about the importance of car seat safety, proper installation, etc.  Celebrities who took advantage of this service included Tori Spelling (Liam and Stella were with mommy at the event), Garcelle Beauvais (new seats for her twins), Samantha Harris, Constance Marie, Kyle Richards, Alicia Coppola, Constance Zimmer, and Sarah Drew (who got a seat installed for her soon-to-be born baby).

Inside the event, kids (of all ages) enjoyed face painting, crafting and wax hands, while their parents checked out the latest cars from Buick, Britax’s car seats and strollers, clothing from Children’s Place, and products from USANA, VTech Toys, Mabel’s Labels, Sensa, Nestle, among others.

One of the most important tips i learned at the event was NOT to switch your kids to a booster or smaller car seat to soon. You want them in the most protective one they can be in for their age in weight.  You might feel pressure to move them to a booster or smaller seat, but really what there is nothing more important then your kids safety so keep them in that seat until then NEED they reach the height and weight limits.
