Baby Boot Camp

Time To Get FIT!

Alright, the excuses are over and I'm committing to it. Working out and losing the "baby weight" that is. I started Baby Boot Camp this week and I am very sore (that good kind of sore, so you know it is working) but I feel great!   "Baby Boot Camp is a stroller-based fitness class designed specifically to help moms get fit while they bring their baby. It takes the place of a personal trainer at a time in your life when you need one more than ever. Classes combine strength-training exercises with cardiovascular drills." The classes are really intense and you will be sweating, but they are also really fun and you get to chat and swap stories with other moms.  April, who teaches the West LA classes is so encouraging and helpful.  She also has an eagle eye and makes sure that all the moms are doing the exercises with the right form to ensure the best results. I love being able to bring Tyler with me too (he would not stay in kids club at the gym) and he gets such a kick when we are running around. There are moms with kids of all ages there, but you must be at least 6 weeks post-partum (8 if you had a c-section).  You can also come if you are pregnant (just get a note from your doctor that you are cleared to work out).

Classes are Mon-Fri at 9 am, Saturday at 8:30 at the Westside Pavilion, and/or Tues and Thursday outside at Sporteve in Culver City at 10:30. There are lots of options to choose from for signing up, and depending on the package you pick classes are as low as $4.25 and the first class is FREE.  Come try it out, I think you will be hooked like me. I swear, in just the last three days of going to Baby Boot Camp I have more energy and I just feel happier. I am going to keep you guys posted on my results - I am not telling you my weight but I will say I want to lose about 30lbs. So come join me and the other great moms at Baby Boot Camp and lets all get fit together!

Here is a little more info about our teacher April. I have to add that she is also an expert baby whisperer - as soon as your little one starts to fuss she turns it on and gets them laughing again so you can keep working out.

April is an AFAA certified group exercise instructor with a Baby Boot camp pre/post natal certification. She is first aid and CPR certified for adults, children and infants.
April lives in West Los Angeles with her husband Tony and two daughters Isabella (4/07) and Ivy (11/08). She has always been good about staying in shape. Whether it was boxing with a personal trainer or walking a golf course, it has always been her way of life. Since the birth of her first daughter she has been searching for that perfect day that does not sacrifice any time spent with Isabella and Ivy and still gives her the feeling she has after a great workout. Baby Boot Camp makes that perfect day a reality and allows her to mix her love of exercise with the joy of motherhood. April is very excited to bring Baby Boot Camp to the West Los Angeles area. She looks forward to helping other Moms reach their health and fitness goals while spending that quality time with their little ones.

Full Disclosure - I am attending Baby Boot Camp classes for free in exchange for advertising on SM Macaroni Kid-but everything I write is my own thoughts and opinons.
